Medical Director of MOA-Shrewsbury, Leslie O’Dell, OD, FAAO, focuses on the management of ocular disease including glaucoma, dry eye, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. O’Dell graduated from Salus University (formerly Pennsylvania College of Optometry) in 2003 and completed a residency at the Baltimore VA Hospital, one of the premier residency sites in the nation.

Throughout her career, Dr. O’Dell has demonstrated her commitment to optimizing patient outcomes through her personalized approach to eye care. She is equally passionate about advancing the field of Optometry and leaving her mark through a wide variety of research endeavors aimed at improving the testing and treatment of ocular diseases.

Dr. O’Dell is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, and a member of the board of directors of the Optometric Glaucoma Foundation. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, Optometric Glaucoma Society, and Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS). She was selected to participate in the TFOS Dry Eye Workshop (TFOS DEWSII) initiative in 2017 and is actively participating in the TFOS Global Workshop: “A Lifestyle Epidemic: Ocular Surface Disease.” She is one of six TFOS Global Ambassadors for the United States. Dr. O’Dell is a founding member and current board member of the Intrepid Eye Society.

Throughout her career, Dr. O’Dell has been active in designing, conducting and presenting results for a variety of clinical research studies, including FDA trials and Phase III and Phase IV studies, that have advanced testing and treatment methodologies for a variety of ocular diseases and dry eye management. She currently serves as Director of Clinical Research for MOA and is highly sought-after clinical lecturer by medical device and pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Leslie O’Dell was named on Newsweek’sAmerica’s Best Eye Doctors 2022.” She was also named by Primary Care Optometry News to the inaugural PCON 250 list recognizing excellence in patient care and innovation in the field of Optometry. She was honored by the Central Pennsylvania Optometric Society as Young OD of the Year and OD of the Year. The Central Penn Business Journal named Dr. O’Dell to its 40 Under 40 list in 2016 and the Healthcare Power 30 list in 2021.

Widely recognized as a thought leader on topics such as advancements in management of dry eye disease, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and the management of surgical patients, Dr. O’Dell has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics and has published more than 75 articles in national eye care journals. She previously served as Co-Chief Medical Editor for Modern Optometry.
